Can BPO be the Key to Innovation and Improvement?

From: NelsonHall
By: Rick Simmonds, Partner, Alsbridge Europe

Why do organisations outsource and what are they seeking to achieve? Both analyst research and practical experience lead to clear conclusions - organisations outsource primarily to cut costs, then to improve service. Cost saving can be relatively easily delivered in today's market (through using offshoring as the main lever), and can be clearly tracked, but service improvement is more problematic. Why?

DATASERV'S JEFF HALLER APPOINTED TO PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD FOR FOSTER AND ADOPTIVE CARE COALITION

Jeff Haller, Managing Partner with DataServ, the leading on-demand service provider of document management, workflow and F&A outsourcing solutions, was elected to President of the Board for The Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition (FACC).

FACC is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) agency, that strives to create permanency in every foster child's life by recruiting and supporting foster/adoptive homes in the St. Louis metropolitan community. Jeff joined the Board of Directors of the Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition in 2003 and became President of the Board in January, 2006.

"Jeff is an articulate and passionate ambassador for FACC, taking advantage of every opportunity to spread the word about the critical need for caring, nurturing foster/adoptive homes," says Debbie Genung, Director of Development for Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition. "Jeff understands the long-term effects that trauma can produce and how crucial our work is. As board president, Jeff immediately set out to help FACC expand the board to include people with the skills we need to be effective. Jeff has been instrumental in board development, leading a successful board retreat this past spring. As board president, he keeps a watchful eye on the organization's finances and provides strategic long range planning expertise to make sure that FACC remains mission-driven and fiscally sound."

In support of the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition, we would like to announce an event called Family Ties that will be held on November 25th, 2006. The purpose of Family Ties is to provide a free-of-charge, high-quality cultural experience in the form of entertaining children's theater for 595 foster children and their families. This year's production is Charlotte's Web. Sponsorships pay for the children to attend. For more information, or to make a donation to FACC, please call Debbie Genung, Director of Development, at 314-340-6973 or email her at debbiegenung@foster-adopt.org.

SaaS: Taking the Worry out of Service

From: CIO Today
By: By Jeffrey Marshall

SaaS is essentially an outgrowth of the application service provider (ASP) model that gained popularity a few years ago. With an ASP, a company essentially turned over its relevant function - payroll, procurement, etc. - to the software provider, which "hosted" the application on its servers and gave the company 24/7 access to the system. SaaS represents a step up from ASPs, however.

DATASERV'S DAVID BERNDT SPEAKS AT EMC'S MOMENTUM CONFERENCE

David Berndt, Partner/CIO for DataServ, the leading hosted service provider of document management, workflow and outsourcing solutions, led an interactive workshop at EMC's Momentum Conference on September 19th, 2006 to an attentive group of technical users.

Nearly 2,000 EMC software customers and partners shared four information packed days of breakout sessions, networking functions and social events at the 2006 user conference.

Berndt's session, titled "Capture Goes Global", covered how Captiva products are being used across the enterprise to improve business processes, reduce costs, increase information accuracy and improve customer service. Berndt provided a detailed case study describing how DataServ selected and implemented input management solutions and the results that have been achieved. The session highlighted how EMC's Captiva eInput enables remote document capture for clients employing DataServ's SaaS document management solutions.

"There are so many good technology choices out there today. This session provided EMC clients an example of how their products can benefit a growing business," commented Berndt.
